Thomas Libertiny is a U.S. finance, technology and entertainment businessman and the founder and President of the Libertiny Group.[1]
Libertiny has notable history with not-for-profit organizations including:
1) Habitat for humanity. Serving in a variety of capacities since 1999 and is presently the President of the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity Detroit.[2]
2) The 120,000 member American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) International. Serving in a variety of capacities since 1990 including the Executive Committee of the Board on Government Relations, Foundation Federal Fellows Campaign Committee with Senator John Sununu, and his present position as Vice President of Global Communities.[3]
Libertiny is one of the co-inventors and received U.S. patent 5,598,908 for a "Magnetorheological Fluid Coupling Device and Torque Load Simulator System."[4]
Libertiny is a prolific writer and sought after speaker at finance and technology engagements throughout the world including Business Week's "Business Exchange."[5]

Libertiny was raised in Florida, Illinois, and Michigan and attended Lawrence Technological University where he graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA).
In 1988 while still in undergraduate engineering college, Libertiny began his career as a serial entrepreneur by starting Tensor Systems, Inc. his first automotive component design firm in Michigan. Later he went on to serve as Manager of Finance and Engineer at AeroquipVicker's business incubator business (formerly a part of Trinova and now a part of the Eaton Corporation), helping to spin out a variety of new technologies and companies in the diverse fields of semiconductor manufacturing equipment and medical devices. With his background in new business ventures he then joined Prudential Securities and focused on the other side of the venture capital equation. This all culminated with the founding of Libertiny Group which specializes in both the development of new businesses and venture capital.
Libertiny has authored hundreds of articles ranging in topics from finance and technology,[6] to government and entertainment.[7] Publications include Business Week's Business Exchange, ME Today and his own blog. As a sought after speaker, his speaking engagements in finance and technology include traveling throughout North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Libertiny has received multiple industry and not-for-profit awards and honors from Prudential Securities, Trinova, Habitat for Humanity, the ASME, and the Detroit Public Schools. He has been selected for inclusion in Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, and Who's Who in Engineering.
